Melissa Cox - Press Kit

One-sheet  (PDF)

For over a decade, Melissa Cox has captivated audiences with her powerful mezzo soprano voice, award-winning songwriting, provocative lyrics and powerful stage presence. Voted Best Singer/Songwriter of 2008 by Spark Magazine and Best Musical Folk Artist by the DE Division of the Arts the same year, Melissa follows her own vision for her music and strives to craft songs and sounds that are inventive yet accessible, fresh yet familiar. Many have compared her fearless vocals to the voices of Grace Slick, Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries, and Tori Amos.

Melissa attended University of Delaware, where she honed her performance skills and found her true voice at local campus open mics. She soon started to land gigs at local restaurants and fairs.

While in college, Melissa made her first major appearance when she opened for national touring artist Catie Curtis.  In her senior year, she teamed up with four other UD students and launched her band Mythica. With Melissa leading the way as frontwoman and primary songwriter, Mythica quickly landed several high profile performances, including an opening slot at a Spin Doctors and Sister Hazel concert in 2006.  Since then, Mythica has shared the stage with the Young Dubliners, the Prodigals, the Makem Brothers, Tom Chapin, Old School Freight Train and others.

As a solo artist and with her band, Melissa has performed at some of the largest events and best known venues on the East Coast, including the Long Island and Richmond Celtic Festivals, Pittsburgh Ethnic Fest, DE Grand Opera House, Grape St. Pub in Philly, Sellersville Theater & hundreds more.
